Peter
O’Toole is a freelance illustrator / designer based in Huddersfield, UK. Peter
attended Highfields Art School progressing further on to Bradford College to
study Graphic Media Communication. He graduated from College in 2008 in which
he found his first job at a local chemical plant whilst building clientele on
the side. Eventually Peter took the leap of faith and believed in himself
enough to attempt to go freelance within design. In 2011, he attended a local
talk by James Sommerville (Co-founder of Attik). During the talk, he was
introduced to Adam Gill by a mutual friend. From this interaction Peter has formed
a business with Adam Gill.
Adam
Gill’s focus was design whilst he was working at Design Junkie at the time.
Peter soon convinced him to go freelance and they set up Grammar in 2012,
utilising both graphic / illustrative work. Peter O’Toole splits his time by
working on advertising campaigns and publications with Grammar. He has worked
with the likes of Nike Football and Variety Magazine in New York.

In
the lecture Peter discussed his most favourite project. He’s been working with
Adidas since 2012, in 2013 he got the opportunity to pitch an idea to them
about a book. After illustrating this book Peter had the opportunity to design
his own signature shoe to be released alongside his work. Peter’s ability to
network is what inspires me. If I am going to be truly successful within this
industry I must network myself.
