Our first guest lecture within the processes module was
given by Thomas Yeomans. Thomas Yeomans is an artist working primarily in the
field of moving image, in which some of his work can be seen below. Having studied at the Slade School of
Fine Art and the Royal College of Art, Thomas now resides in London. Drawing
broadly from pop culture, advertising, and the dark web, his elegant and
unsettling work has earned him solo shows in London and Manchester, along with
countless group exhibitions all across Europe over the past four years.

The image above shows Thomas Yeomans
work. Aside from his work in animation and moving image I wanted to look at his
other forms of work. What I discovered in these other forms of work is that
they still try to tell a story as if it were a moving image. The image above
depicts taking identities / activism from the online sphere and presenting them
offline to explore, analyse and imagine future possibilities. In a way I
personally find some of these images disturbing however, I am sure this is the
intention of the project. This form of work opens up my mind to the endless
avenues you could take a project furthermore I enjoy how Thomas has taken his
strengths within moving picture and applied the same method to
photography/direction.
